Cooper Catch Up: August 2014

"Duck! Duck! Duck!" Bird identification is not Coop's specialty!

My plan for the "Cooper Catch Up" series was to simply do a quick recap of each month through pictures and a log of things the Little Prince did that I've been keeping on my phone… except apparently Cooper's birthday month was so full of unpacking, moving into our house and celebrating a brand new one year old that I didn't write a single thing down! #momfail. So… August (and September - not sure why I didn't write anything that month either) should be an especially quick catch up!

We spent most of August getting adjusted to our new house! Oh were we happy to finally be in a permanent home after bouncing around for three or four months. One of our favorite things about the new house is the back deck. It's so nice to have a place to go sit outside but still be in the shade! Cooper loves sitting at the tiny table MamaShawna found him.

Pops was working on our roof and took a little break to cool off with us on the porch. Cooper snatched his notepad and pen and went to town! (First time to draw pictures - August 4th)

We did our best to soak up every last ray of summer sunshine! Cooper LOVES riding in the boat and splashing in the lake. He sweetly watches while Mommy and Daddy ski, but he prefers to ride the tube. The month of August is typically our family's favorite month to enjoy the lake because the summer crowd has started to slow down and we have the whole place to ourselves… Lucky dogs! (First time on water skis - August 6th)

Cooper is a Rylee fan. Rylee is still not a Cooper fan. There were lots of these cute standoffs.

This boy loves his Daddy! He also really likes sticking his hands in Daddy's mouth… We are still not sure why that's so amusing, but if it makes him happy we will play along!

One night while we were praying before dinner Cooper just couldn't wait a minute longer and dove face first into his plate! I guess if you have to hold hands while you pray there isn't any other way to eat except just to go for it!

Pops worked a little too hard and got to take a quick vacation in the hospital. Thankfully, after one night and LOTS of fluids he was up and at 'em just like always! Cooper wasn't too sure what was going on but he sure liked the wheel chair.

Mommy Shawna, Cooper and Pops headed to tailgate!
Cooper and his best buddy Jackson!
Thankful every day that I get to experience this wild ride
of mommy-hood with my dear friend Kristen!

Cooper's second OU football season kicked off in August! He loved tailgating with Jackson and then exploring Norman's beautiful campus. Per usual, Uncle Awesome, came through big time by taking Cooper out on the field during pre-game... Brandon and I were excited, Cooper took it very seriously. People ask us all the time how it goes with Cooper at ballgames and most think we are crazy for taking him, but he is such a little sports fan it really isn't a problem at all! He sits in our lap and just soaks it all in - he watches the game, he talks to everyone sitting around us, he does his best to say "boomer!" and occasionally he naps! Haha! We lucked out and have a tiny sports enthusiast!

Cooper learned to love oatmeal! We have to eat it outside because he gets it everywhere!!

Coop's favorite toy right now is the new car the Coffee cousins got him for his birthday. He likes to ride it and push it, but his favorite thing is to push the little music buttons and dance! He also loves to read books (Little Blue Truck and any Sandra Boynton or Dr Seuss book makes him very happy!) and then of course, any ball!

This picture is one of my favorites… Cooper reminds me so much of my little brother and this picture pretty much sums it up perfectly! Sweat pants sagging enough that you can see the top of his diaper, no shirt, messy hair, sporting Sooner gear and chasing a ball… It would be a toss up to guess whether you are describing Cooper or Zac.

Cooper turned ONE!! And we partied. A lot.

The big boat has been a hit this month - it's still plenty hot to splash! Cooper loves trying to figure out the water hose nozzle and throwing the ONE HUNDRED balls Pops got him for his birthday!

Cooper and Mommy love books so we went to check out the Fort Smith Library. Books galore - Cooper was thrilled!

Somebody has been working on their dribbling skills…

Since the weather is starting to cool off a teeny-tiny bit Cooper and Mommy have been getting up early and hitting the ol' walking trail. We walk until we can't walk anymore and then we reward Coop by playing at the park. It's a great way to start the day!

One year check up had Cooper weighing in at 20 pounds and 14.8 ounces (42%) and measuring 31 inches (87%).

That's a wrap for AUGUST 2014!
