Cooper: Week 13

COOPER LIKES:

Riding in the cart like a big boy!

This little puppy!
He talks, sings, lights up - the works.
Cooper is completely enamored!

His awesome new hipster hat!
His friend, Maxwell, sent it to him from chilly Chicago and
Cooper wore it ALL day without ever even attempting to give it a tug!

Rocking with Momma in the morning.

COOPER DOES NOT LIKE:

Sleeping...
Randomly this week out of nowhere Cooper decided that 2 in the morning was a great time to get up for the day... We kept him up late, just as we always do, but this did not deter him from his mission to keep me up one bit! Thankfully Daddy saved the day by pulling a full night's worth of baby duty so that I could sleep - my first full night's sleep in literally three months. A-mazing. I've got a seriously good husband.

ALSO a quick update: We invested in a fan for the ol' carseat (Save yourself the awkward look from the Walmart guy, fans are a seasonal item only carried during the summer) and it has helped! Sometimes he loves it and sometimes he doesn't love it at all and sometimes he likes to kick it... the point being, sometimes he doesn't scream bloody murder in the car! Thank you to everyone who sweetly offered up their helpful hints on eliminating this nightmare!

PICTURE OF THE WEEK:

If you haven't noticed, Momma can't resist a sleeping baby picture.

WEEK 13 HAPPENINGS:

Day 85: Daddy was on call so Cooper and I stayed home and watched the OU/Baylor game. Since that wasn't very fun, we started experimenting with baby boy's stability - with the help of the couch, Cooper stood up all by himself! (Pic was a little blurry as I was a little afraid to let go and take my time getting the picture!) Then since all that balancing was just exhausting, we cuddled for the rest of the night.

Day 86 and 87: Lake with our buddy Jackson! We finally took a picture of our little love bugs!! These handsome men are 2 days and 2 minutes apart exactly - destined to be the best of friends! We had a great weekend relaxing at the lake, driving around at the Ranch and doing a little shopping! Good times with great friends!

My Grandma Dortha with all of her great-grandchildren!
Blake, Blythe, Journey, Cooper & Zoe

Day 88: On Sunday, we hosted a fun little shower for Aunt Sissy (Lyndsey) & Baby Henry! We are so, so, so excited for Henry's arrival in December/January and we had a wonderful time with great friends celebrating him and his precious mommy! Cooper was, thankfully, very cooperative during the shower and had a great time getting passed from one person's arms to the next! Spoiled boy!

Day 89: OU played basketball at home but we were too tired from the weekend fun to attend, but we cheered them on from home! Cooper loves watching Uncle Awesome!

Day 90: Typical Tuesday - Baby Yoga, visited Gramma and Uncle Awesome came over! Cooper was "crying it out" in his crib (that never works, baby boy is stubborn, but about once a month I feel the need to give it a try) so Uncle Awesome went and saved the day... Unfortunately, Cooper was still mad and continued to scream despite the fact that he had been rescued.

Day 91: Stayed home ALL day and Cooper rolled over for the first time (November 13)!! He had a hard time getting his little arm out of his way but he eventually got it, so it's official - back to belly - this boy can do it!

The Littlest Scarecrow

Cooper's first Halloween was a great success! I thought long and hard trying to dream up a costume for the little man's first costume - I wanted something cute, but nothing that he would hate me for when he turned 18. So a handsome little scarecrow seemed to be the perfect fit! With the help of Gabby/Mama Shawna (yes, the name debate is STILL taking place), we were able to whip up a costume in no time! To everyone's surprise, Cooper didn't seem to mind it much at all! He really wanted his hands in his mouth and the straw was interfering with that a bit, but other than that he was a happy little scarecrow!

Since his big cousin Blake had a wonderful dress up birthday party, Cooper was able to see pretty much everyone in the family and take LOTS of pictures! Thanks Blake! Below are all the fun costumes from Blake's birthday party!

On Halloween day, I thought it'd be fun to take Cooper back to Pumpkinville for pictures in his costume. The second we walked into the patch, my little man passed smooth out for one  of his longest naps to date. I tried to wait him out by sitting on a park bench but rain eventually forced us back to the car. Some kind stranger took our picture sitting on the bench, other than that we left with one picture of the sleepy scarecrow!

We spent Halloween night at Grammy's house so we could see Cooper's cousins - Brooks and Kamryn. That many babies cooperating for a photo session is kind of impossible so we only snapped a few quick pictures! Nevertheless, it was a fun time hanging out with Batman and Robin!

I have never been a huge Halloween fan - it took a pretty serious hit when I realized the parties and bags of candy ended after elementary school - but Cooper brought the joy of the holiday back for us! I decided that Halloween as a mommy is much more fun than Halloween as a kid! I'm looking forward to many, many more costumes, candy and fun with this sweet boy!

OH, one more thing... the one thing I LOVE about Halloween is the Jimmy Kimmel segment, "I Told My Kid I Ate All Their Halloween Candy."  You can watch them HERE and HERE. This is totally happening to Cooper in the future. I am praying that he acts like the sweet little kids that they show at the end... and if he doesn't he will be in biiiiig trouble!

Sleepy little scarecrow.

WEEK 12 HAPPENINGS:

Day 78: Cooper had an eventful first Halloween! He got up early to go to his 2 month wellness check with the pediatrician. The little man didn't mind a bit because his Daddy snuck away from work and came upstairs to go to the appointment with us. Daddy makes everything good! After leaving Dr. Thompson's office, Cooper's mommy had the brilliant idea to swing back by Pumpkinville to get a few pictures of the little scarecrow in costume... Great plan except that the baby scarecrow was worn out and slept for almost an hour and a half while we sat on a bench... eventually mommy gave up... until next year. We spent the holiday at Grammy's house with Cooper's cousins, Batman and Robin! Cooper had a very happy first Halloween!

Day 79: We hit the road early Friday to cheer on our big cousin, Denver, and the mighty, mighty Wolverines! Sweet Blythe held the little man  while he power napped during the fourth quarter. The Wolverines took home a big "W" and moved to 9-0!

Day 80: Daddy was covering the hospital over the weekend and my parents were headed to OU to cheer on the Men's basketball team and Uncle Awesome, so Cooper spent the day cuddling in front of the fire with his Mommy at the lake. Not going to lie, it was a pretty perfect day once Daddy got home!

Day 81: We went to church and then hung around the lake a little longer while Daddy wrapped things up at the hospital. We hit the road around 8pm to head back to OKC and the Cooper-man was not at all happy about it. He cried screamed for 2.5 hours straight. We stopped and let him eat, but the second he finished he resumed the screaming. We stopped again and gave the carseat a swing outside of the car for a bit, but the second we snapped it back in, more screaming. So, that night we made a new rule - pacifier is allowed in the carseat on long drives!

Day 82: Cooper attended his first OU basketball game. Since the season had not technically started, the game was considered an exhibition game and was hosted in the Field House located on campus. It was a cool venue and a fun win for the Sooners. Cooper wasn't too sure about Sooner the mascot, but didn't cry! He watched the game intently - and when he moved from his Daddy's lap to his Momma's, craned his neck to see the court over the bar that we sat behind. He watched the boys run up and down the court until about half way through the second half when he promptly fell fast asleep despite the very loud buzzer that was positioned directly above us. I think it's safe to say that Cooper loves to cheer on the Sooners and Uncle Awesome!

Day 83: Errands, errands and more errands... No pictures of that nonsense!
